Suzi Little can’t remember a time in her life when she didn’t desire to be surrounded by dogs. Growing up in southern New Jersey in a “one dog at a time” family, her family’s standard Poodle, Smokey, was her childhood confidant. After he passed away, they purchased an Airedale Terrier, Rusty, who brought joy to the whole family. After Suzi’s marriage to Michael in 1988 and four children in quick succession, it was time to add a puppy to her own family. Brutus, who became a Champion Airedale Terrier, was purchased and became playmate and guardian of the Little children and Suzi’s sidekick.
After adding two more children to the family, they soon found themselves trekking across the country in a 2006 move from NJ to a Texas suburb north of Houston. It was here that she found time to grow her canine family. Rocky, a Beagle, was the first TX puppy to join them. Soon afterward, Suzi became very involved in dog rescue and was surprised to learn about so many abandoned dogs in the surrounding area, many who were pregnant or had recently birthed a litter, only to be dumped on the street or left at the county shelter. For ten years she volunteered tirelessly to take in pregnant dams, assist in whelping puppies, and raise newborn litters in a healthy and stimulating home environment until placed in their forever homes. Many of these dogs and pups were sick and underdeveloped and she became experienced in the importance of dam healthcare, nutritional needs, and puppy enrichment. Along the way, three more dogs were added to her own family unit- Skippy, a schnauzer mix (rescued from the shelter); Brandy, a lab mix (former foster pup); and Nana, a cockapoo mix (former foster mama dog).
As her children grew and left ‘the den’, it seemed a new dog would appear to fill the empty spot…..with only two teens left at home, it was time for Suzi to realize her life-long dream of breeding her own dogs. The family purchased an AKC standard Poodle, Winnie, and raised her from the time she was 9 weeks old. Along with being a beloved family member, she is now our first breeding dam. From Winnie’s first litter, Suzi kept Honey Bear as her own personal Snuggle-Doodle and a future breeding dam for our program. We have also added Lola, who is a mini multi-gen goldendoodle, as a future mother of our pups and Benji, a mini multi-gen goldendoodle, as a stud for our program and others who want to use his services. Both Lola & Benji live with Guardian Families.
Suzi is excited to use the knowledge she’s acquired from whelping and raising over 100 puppies in our home and her love of dogs as special members of the family, to provide for you high quality Doodle puppies to bring unconditional love into your own homes!
